Beautiful Bluebirds and Brown Nests…Oh my!

Delightful artwork!

This morning, I had the pleasure of visiting a Grade One class, bringing a little touch of Spring with me!  We made bluebirds out of paper plates and nests out of paper “lunch style” bags.  We “connected” to and discussed the beautiful artwork in the story, Feathers For Lunch, by the inspirational author/artist, Lois Ehlert.

Bluebird, Bluebird, through my window!
Oh, gingersnap!

First,

• Fold a small sized paper plate in half.

• Paint both sides of the plate blue.  You could use any colour of paint that you choose!  Let dry.

We “love” this shimmery sky blue paint!

• Add paper tail feathers (We used blue construction paper for the tail feathers!).

• Add a paper beak.

• Glue on wiggly eyes and feathers.

• Sit the bird on or beside the paper nests (see post below, “Sweet Tweets,” for the nest making instructions).

Watch out for that sneaky cat!

Thank you, Ms. Q and the “dear” little Grade Ones for inviting me to spend a creative morning with you!
