Simplicity

This is a very simple idea for your little learners!  There are many adaptations available on Pinterest and other sites.  You will need to purchase the desired quantity of plastic, refillable, clear baubles from a craft store.  I have seen these baubles at, Michaels~

When working with children, I prefer to use the non breakable, plastic style of bauble. Collect a bowl of glitter flakes (to spoon into the opening of the bauble), or cut tinsel bits (stuffable), shredded paper, faux snow, … so many child friendly options!

Happy Holidays from me to you and yours!

Sharing Friendship…

starts with a smile, reaching out to touch somebody’s hand, and is as simple as saying kind words when a classmate, friend, or family member is feeling sad.  Today, we shared our hearts, valentines, and delicious treats!  Thank you, Parents and children for your generosity and kindness today!  You are lovely!

Did you hug someone today?

PS Happy heart day, Little Owlet! 1 4 3 !

A Poppy is to Remember

A Poppy is to Remember

This morning we read  and discussed the text, A Poppy is to Remember- Heather Patterson.  We discussed that the poppy is a symbol to honor brave soldiers, a symbol of peace, love, and hope for a gentler, kinder world.  A poppy is to remember those who sacrificed for our freedom. We discussed why we wear the poppy above our hearts. The children shared their own “connections” to the topic.  We learned that several children had grandfathers,  and great grandfathers who served in wars throughout the world.  We discovered that some fathers have served in the military. The children illustrated their connections to the text.  We were impressed with the details that the children added to their illustrations.

Illustrations have been added to the slideshow.  Writing “samples” will follow.
